Public transport
Brno offers a wide, high-quality, and reliable public transport network operating 24/7. To travel around the city, a single ticket is all you need, and it can be purchased in various ways.
Ticket Purchase Options
The easiest method is the "Tap and Go" system (Pípni a jeď). Simply tap your credit card (or smartphone/smartwatch) against the yellow terminal located next to the entrance doors inside every vehicle. A valid ticket will be electronically assigned to your card. For more information, visit: www.pipniajed.cz.
Another way is to buy a ticket from the yellow ticket machines located at select public transport stops. It is also possible to purchase tickets at information centers, railway stations, or tobacconists. Fares can also be paid by sending a text message (SMS) or via a mobile app. For more detailed practical info, visit: https://www.gotobrno.cz/en/find-your-way-in-brno/getting-around-brno-and-the-surrounding-areas/.
Traveling by car
The road network can be Brno's Achilles' heel. If you must use a car, it is recommended to drive outside of rush traffic hours, which typically occur in Brno between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM, and in the afternoon between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
A parking management system is active across most parts of Brno—you can identify these areas by the blue street markings (blue zones). Several paid parking lots and parking garages are available in the city center. On the outskirts of the city, you can utilize the official "Park and Ride" (P+R) parking lots, such as the one near the Ústřední hřbitov (Central Cemetery) stop.
